There is so much that is not going on right in our country, our homes, our offices and indeed every aspect of society. We are constantly confronted with circumstances that cause us pain and make us despair. Most of the time, we find that, what we do in these circumstances is sit by and complain and moan our states. We acknowledge our helplessness in the face of these challenges but instead of turn to the one who could help us out, we gather our friends together to discuss instead of pray. We sit out there complaining of bad governance, poor economy and even poor weather!
I used to do quite a lot of these until I began to realize that except the Lord helps us, no help of man can change most of the circumstances that confronts us daily. I used to sit out there making all the suggestions I possibly could put forth on how politicians should run government, how they are stealing from federation account and indeed everything that was happening in the country. It took me time to realize that though all my theories on good governance were right, the truth was that I was channeling it the wrong way. I was employing the wrong means. The means of complaints.
However, God's word makes it clear that the only right thing to do when things go wrong is to pray. The only right thing we can do is to talk to God about it. The right thing to do about that Joblessness is not to go around complaining about the statistics on Nigeria's unemployment surveys. The right thing to do is to pray. When we read from 2nd Chronicles 7 vs 13 -14 we see God's word on what we should do when things are not going on right. The Bible says if the Heavens are shut and there be no rain, if there be famine and pestilence in the Land, in our families, in our country, what we should do as children of God is to humble ourselves before the Lord and come before Him in prayers as well as turn from our wicked ways, then will the Lord heal our land. Philippians 4 vs 6 tells us to be careful (anxious) for nothing but to make everything we pass through known unto the Lord in prayers and in thanksgiving. Can a man who is complaining have any reason to offer thanksgiving to God?
Friends, I want us to realize that the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds. I tell you, when you and me start confronting what confronts us in the place of prayer, then will we see the power of God. Complaining won't take us anywhere! I hope we realize soon enough that the politicians are not really the problem. They are acting under the will and influence of the Devil. If there is anyone therefore we must revolt against, it is Satan, and we can only do that and be freed from his oppression, when we pray. Until we turn unto almighty God, we cannot see any change. God didn't say complain, He said pray!
